Kynn is designed to support body confidence and is available in sizes from XS to 4X
Body confidence and everyday comfort go hand in hand, and now there’s a little extra support from New Zealand’s newest shapewear brand – Kynn.
Just in time for party season, Kynn shapewear is designed to accentuate and support curves of all shapes, with sizes ranging from XS to 4X (and an equally wide range of skin shades). Kudos for the size inclusivity, as many other shapewear brands max out at a size L (often as small as a 14).
The Kynn collection is made up of six essentials: Shapewear Short, Power Contour Bodysuit, Everyday Bodysuit, Shaping Underwear, Everyday Brasserie, and Everyday Brief.
While shapewear can be something many women have a love/hate relationship with (partly due to the kidney-crushing creations of a few decades ago), there’s also the intellectual conversation around shapewear. The concept dates back generations to the introduction of corsets around 1840. These days, shapewear is more about gently supporting the female form than crushing it into what was once considered a fashionable shape.
Kynn has a fresh outlook on the shapewear market and aims to celebrate women, self-love, and self-acceptance by offering a second skin of confidence.
“We wanted to find solutions and redefine shapewear for every woman. We felt the shapewear category in New Zealand wasn’t cool and wasn’t providing the solutions it should,” says founder Jessica Payne.
“It’s known for being notoriously uncomfortable, dated, daggy, and didn’t feel like it was for everybody. We wanted to make a shapewear brand that helps women feel sexier, curvier, and more confident.”
The FashioNZ team sampled the Kynn collection across a few body types and quickly reached a universal agreement around the extreme comfort element – not always a feature of shapewear, but certainly the case with this New Zealand brand.
Also worth noting is that Kynn shapewear seems designed to be supportive, rather than restrictive. It’s silky smooth to wear, surprisingly lightweight. and without the excruciating discomfort that many of us have experienced in previous trials of shapewear over the years.
Top marks go to the sheer and seamless Power Mesh Shorts – truly a barely there feel (and look) and ideal for a gentle shapely contour under a dress or skirt. Being so lightweight makes this offering perfect for warmer summer days without ending up in a puddle of despair.
Also deserving of a special mention is the Power Contour Bodysuit, designed to accentuate shape around the waist, butt, torso, and bust. This one’s ideal for under high-waisted pants or jeans, as well as dresses, particularly a lower-cut dress for avoiding an unexpected peek-a-boo moment. It offers the reassurance of a little all-over support, without squeezing, constricting, or putting body parts into unnatural positions (trust us, we’ve experienced this shapewear hellishness previously also!).
For those more generously endowed in the bust area, you’ll know the agony of searching for a wireless bralette that offers some natural support and doesn’t leave you, well … just dangling. The Kynn Shaper Bralette actually gets top marks for comfort AND support – rare bedfellows. So much so that we purchased one to keep for ourselves.
Kynn’s Shaping Underwear is designed to sculpt and smooth the torso using innovative compression technology. With no underwear lines and an emphasis on comfort, it offers sheer reassurance under any garment. The range of Everyday Bra and Brief collections span a variety of styles, coverage, and support.
Kynn also offers an organic cotton range and its Everyday bodysuits are made right here in New Zealand.
