We are steadily heading into wedding season and one of the many things for a bride to consider is what to dress her #bridesquad in. Bridesmaids fashion has come a long way in recent years, no longer are a bride’s besties restricted to a formal, one-style-must-fit-all get up as weddings in general have embraced a more individualistic tone. Options to consider include mixing and matching different dress styles in the same colour or a complementary palette, as choosing dresses best suited to each of your bridesmaid’s individual style preferences and figures means chances are they are likely to wear it again, and we here at FashioNZ are strong advocates in cost per wear!

Many local labels and designers have expanded their repertoire to include bridesmaids services alongside releasing their seasonal ranges. Often these labels and designers utilise some of their best selling designs from their archives and offer them ready to purchase or made to order. Label Blak has ‘Blak Bridesmaids’ offering made to order dresses, where one can select existing styles from their range and customise them in their own chosen colour and fabrics for their special day, pictured above on the left is their ‘Sealed with a Kiss dress’. This year Moochi launched ‘Bridesmaid Suggested’ – a ready to wear range consisting of eight different designs in seasonal colours, the edit is available in their boutiques and online in sizes 6-16, pictured in the centre is their ‘Fold dress’. Miss Crabb has a ‘Special Order’ service where a handful of her best selling designs are able to be recreated in a client’s chosen fabric and colour, pictured above right is her ever popular ‘Summertime Dress’ which is available ready to wear in a selection of colours, or as part of the Special Order range.

Younger designers with a flair for feminine designs have also embraced catering to bridesmaids. Designer Kendall Watt through her online boutique The Stockroom, has a range of beautiful and contemporary bridesmaids styles available to be made to order in your choice of fabrics and colours, we love the sophisticated long sleeve keyhole dress above left. Céline Rita is well known for her pretty and polished aesthetic and has really captured her client base with her special occasion designs; she has a ready to wear range as well as made to order services, pictured above in the centre is her ‘Pieta dress’ in ivory. Similarly, Amber Whitecliffe offers both ready to wear and made to order and has struck a note in the market with her colourful and charming designs, pictured above on the right is her ‘Coralie Wrap dress’.
