The only type of cocktail we can get behind during dry July – NEW from Karen Walker

The latest collection from Karen Walker Jewellery introduces iconic styles reimagined with stunning new stones, including the Runaway Girl adorned with the signature KW bow.

The Flame Cocktail Ring, originally launched in 2003, has been refreshed with three new semi-precious stones: Onyx for a deep, endless black; Rose Quartz for a lively, sherbet-like pink; and Topaz for a sparkling, sunny blue. Each stone features harlequin facets that catch the light beautifully, enhancing the intensity of their colours.

Also from the original 2003 collection, the Chequerboard Ring, available in both 12x10mm and 14x14mm sizes, has been updated with Peach Moonstone and White Agate. These stones have a rich, milky appearance that interacts beautifully with the light, highlighting their bold facets. The Chequerboard style has also been miniaturised into a delicate 6x4mm size, perfect for stacking and mixing with other pieces. The Peach Moonstone and White Agate are joined by Onyx, Smoky Quartz, Garnet, and Topaz, creating a playful and diverse selection. All styles are available in both gold and silver.

The new Girl with a Bow pendant is suspended from the Superlove Bow and hangs from a chic paperclip chain, secured with a T-bar and loop. The Girl with a Bow is also available as elegant earrings, with both styles offered in gold and silver.

It’s been 8 months, but Noa Blanket Co’s iconic blankets are back!

Noa Blanket Co founders Josh and Whakaawa Te Kani are gaining recognition for their efforts to share ancestral stories in a modern, inclusive way. Since launching, they’ve achieved significant success with four sell-out Limited Edition Collections and their woven-to-order range, Limitless, in 2023. They’ve also collaborated with Campbell Luke for Kahuria (New Zealand Fashion Week), won two Koura (Gold) awards, and a Hiriwa (Silver) in the Best Design Awards.

Recently, they completed a project with Cheshire Architects, “Noa Blanket Co was never imagined to solely serve a functional purpose,” Josh explains. “Our blankets are an art form and our business, a safe space to share art, collective stories, narratives of identity, challenge, and growth – all through the traditional medium of woven wool.”

Despite being only in their third year, Josh and Whakaawa have kept their growth slow and thoughtful. “For us, it’s not about getting product out into the world as fast as possible,” Josh says. “It’s about taking our time, listening to what we are called to do, perfecting our craft, and creating as and when the time feels right.”

Their upcoming Limited Edition Collection, Te Ata Hāpara (The Dawn of a New Day), reflects belief and hope. “It’s come about at a time when the whole world feels a bit on edge. Our designs and stories are intended to wrap around you physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually, inviting you inwards and helping to instil a sense of ease,” Josh shares.

With no fixed release schedule, their last collection sold out in 24 hours, as did the previous three Limited Edition collections.

“It’s an incredible feeling knowing that our blankets are so well received,” says Whakaawa. “We put so much care into making sure they carry and share our stories – and it’s amazing that they sell out so quickly.” To meet demand, Noa introduced Limitless, a woven-to-order range. “Limitless features three designs, all woven to order,” Josh explains. “This approach aligns with our commitment to being slow and intentional, offering more access to taonga (treasures) without waste.”

Te Ata Hāpara launched first to subscribers on Thursday, July 25, with a public release that followed. Whakaawa says this collection offers encouragement during tough times, reminding us to hold on to our hopes and beliefs.

Moochi is urging us to look past fast fashion

In today’s challenging economic climate, amid the chaos of fast fashion and endless micro trends, staying stylish while remaining environmentally conscious feels like an uphill struggle. The fashion industry faces persistent issues of overconsumption and textile waste, intensified by rapid trend cycles. As consumers adjust to a recessionary landscape, many are shifting their focus to making thoughtful, long-term investments in their wardrobes. Moochi responds to this shift by offering high-quality, timeless pieces designed to last for years, providing fashion that’s truly worth investing in.

Since its inception in Mount Maunganui 24 years ago, Moochi has been dedicated to providing clothing that women reach for daily. Established in 2000, Moochi has become a mainstay in New Zealand fashion, appealing to a broad audience with its versatile collections. Over the years, the brand has evolved, staying in tune with trends while preserving the timeless and enduring style that customers love.

“We believe the quality and wearability of our range is key. We make clothing that women want to wear every day. Women know, it is not the cost, but the cost per wear that matters when it comes to clothing. Excellent quality, wearable clothing that you reach for time and time again matters,” says Vicky Taylor, Moochi CEO.

The Moochi Key Piece range is crucial, developed biannually to form the foundation of a capsule wardrobe that women can rely on day after day. “We are conscious that most women want to buy pieces that are timeless and can easily be paired together, while also looking modern and contemporary. Our Key Pieces range answers that need,” explains Taylor. This range gained notable success in 2023, thanks to a refreshed campaign that highlighted the brand’s timeless appeal through a diverse, multi-generational focus.

“We are incredibly grateful for the support and loyalty of our customers over the past 24 years,” said Vicky Taylor, CEO of Moochi. The ongoing demand led to Moochi opening two new stores in 2023. A second store was added to central Wellington, and a flagship store in Commercial Bay was opened. Moochi is eyeing up new locations for late 2024.

Despite challenging economic times, Moochi remains dedicated to maintaining their New Zealand base. With a head office in Grey Lynn, where the design and marketing is completed, they also work with local makers, as well as offshore. “In times of economic uncertainty, we believe it is important to support our local economy and provide jobs within New Zealand. This commitment not only ensures the quality of our products but also fosters a sense of community and pride.” added Taylor.
