New Zealand Fashion Week 2016 Designers Announced

New Zealand Fashion Week 2016 (NZFW) is less than four weeks away now and the provisional designer line up for this year’s event has been announced, with a strong contigent of established and emerging labels confirmed to take to the runway. This year NZFW and the ever popular Fashion Weekend is on from Monday 22 August – Sunday 28 August at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre. Opening night sees talented Auckland designer pair Harman Grubiša kick off proceedings as the recipients of Mercedes-Benz Presents accolade for 2016. Their sophisticated show will open NZFW at 8.30pm on Monday evening with what will be one of the most hotly anticipated collections of the week.

NZFW favourites Zambesi, Hailwood, Twenty-seven Names, Andrea Moore and Stolen Girlfriends Club are among the labels that will take to the runway during the trade event. Newer brands Carena West, Wynn Hamlyn, Lucilla Gray and Eugenie will also be presenting their collections in individual and contemporary salon shows.

Popular streetwear label Federation make their return NZFW this year after having first appeared on the runway in the New Generation show of 2002. Designer Turet Kneufermann also returns to the NZFW runway this year, presenting her glamourous Kneufermann at an off-site show at Seafarers Members Club in Britomart. The always fascinating AOK K’Road show will take to the runway on Tuesday night with designs from Lela Jacobs, Jimmy D, Ovna Ovich and Maaike bringing their brands of alternative cool to the event.

This year’s New Generation group has been split to create two shows with emerging designers Erik Yvon, Mitchell Vincent, AO Label, Campbell Luke, Motel Bible, Kendall Watt and Danielle Power-Silk all keen to impress on the runway.

Always a great show, the 2016 Miromoda showcase will highlight the talent of designers of Maori heritage which include 2016 Supreme Winners of the Miromoda Fashion Design Competition, Keri Wanoa and Brooke Strang of Wanoa Four.

The Friday Fashion Lunch is set to close out the week with a elegant show of corporate outfits from leading labels Kate Sylvester, Hailwood, Ruby, Juliette Hogan, Trelise Cooper, Liam, Kneufermann and Adrienne Winkelmann.

This year’s Fashion Weeked has a plethora of stunning shows beginning with crowd-favourite Trelise Cooper bringing her spring/summer showcase to the runway on Friday night. While the always theatrical WORLD will deliver a colourful extravaganza on the Saturday evening. Amongst the other weekend shows is the ever popular Resene Designer Runway shows which feature a huge range of looks from many different designers. This year there are Resene Designer Runway shows on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Fashion Weekend also offers great shopping at the designer pop-up sale, fascinating seminars, helpful beauty hub and all kinds of sartorial delights.
