New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) has announced its provisional designer line up for 2015, with a strong list of designers from around the country and overseas.

Kate Sylvester will present two shows, showcasing her forward season collections (Autumn/Winter 2016) to local and international media and industry delegates, on Tuesday 25 August, as this year’s Mercedes-Benz Presents designer, before opening the publically attended Fashion Weekend with a Spring/Summer 2015 collection on Friday evening.

New Zealand’s best known labels are showing in force with collections from Zambesi, NOM*d, Hailwood, Twenty-Seven Names, Andrea Moore and Annah Stretton showcased on the runway at the ANZ Viaduct Events Centre and RUBY and Stolen Girlfriends Club presenting their collections at off-site venues.

International sensation Sean Kelly (once a Fashion Week intern) returns from New York and his 2014 Project Runway success to present a highly anticipated capsule collection.

Appearing for the first time on the NZFW schedule are Auckland’s Harman Grubisa, Wellingtonian Lucilla Gray, and Sydney-based designer Third Form who along with a sensational line up of designers in the New Generation showcase, ensure fashion’s fresh talent is also in the spotlight.

Crowd-favourite Trelise Cooper will give the public a taste of her feminine signature style when she closes Fashion Week with an in-season showcase on the Sunday evening.

NZFW Managing Director Dame Pieter Stewart is pleased to have such a strong group of designers involved this year.

“We’re hugely excited about the 85 designers and exhibitors we have confirmed for 2015. New Zealand Fashion Week remains a central hub for the local fashion industry and the key platform for both new and established designers to showcase their 2016 collections. This line up reflects the excellence, innovation and diversity that exists in the New Zealand fashion community – something we passionately endeavour to promote and maintain.”

Dame Pieter is especially looking forward to the 2015 Miromoda showcase. It features some exceptionally talented Maori designers, including 2015 Supreme winner Steve Hall, who also took out first prize at the iD International Emerging Designer Awards in April of this year.

New to the week is the Choose Wool show, celebrating one of New Zealand’s biggest agricultural exports and a pillar of the New Zealand apparel industry, with designs by Hailwood, Liz Mitchell, Perriam, Sabatini, Tanya Carlson and Wynn Hamlynn.

Avid fashion fans also have plenty of opportunities to experience the excitement and energy of NZFW. The Resene Designer Selection shows run each day from Wednesday through Saturday. NZ Fashion Weekend starts with Sylvester’s in-season show on Friday 28 August followed by an exclusive party featuring Auckland’s hottest DJ’s and an action-packed schedule of in-season designer shows and fashion and beauty seminars on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August.
