New beauty releases for winter. Image writer’s own.
Aside from the slight chill in the air and the crisp, orange leaves on the ground, you would not quite know it’s winter. The beauty launches certainly seem to be seasonally backwards, such is the nature of New Zealand being at the bottom of the world. We feel like this edit can really be used year-round and if you’re wary of colours for certain seasons, there’s plenty of room to mix and match in that department with these new launches. From summery sweet scents through to barely there washes of colour for the lips and cheeks. We have you sorted this season.
Juicy Couture, Viva La Juicy Sucre EDP, $38-$203
It helps that the bottle for this new launch looks good enough to eat but the scent is divine too. We are not-so-secret cake enthusiasts so this was always going to appeal to us here at FashioNZ. With citrus notes and a touch of sweetness courtesy of Almond Cream and Vanilla Extract, this fragrance is bound to appeal to a wide range of perfume lovers.
Lancôme Matte Shakers, $45 available June 19th
Last year’s glossy, sheeny delectable lip products have a new friend. These are mattes but not like the thick, unflattering liquid lipsticks we’ve seen lately. The Matte Shakers are velvety and leave your lips with more of a Popsicle stain effect. You can layer up the pigment as much as you wish but we prefer to wear them sheerly for a subtle wash of colour.
MAC Next To Nothing Foundation, $64.00
This is our new favourite base and the reason is in the name. We’ve often been fans of the minimal makeup look and this new foundation is a must-have. Expect a base providing a hint of coverage but in a way leaves your skin looking velvety smooth and flawless. It can get a bit glowy, but it is nothing a hint of powder cannot fix.
Simply Essential Pro Series Solid Makeup Brush Cleaner, $18.99
Cleaning your makeup brushes can be tedious at the best of times. When a product like this comes along, it’s instantly bathed in a metaphorical ray of celestial light. Simply dampen your brushes and the cleanser, swirl your brushes and pat clean and reshape the bristles. It’s a lot less hassle.
The Body Shop ‘Down To Earth’ Eyeshadows, $16.00
We love being able to customise our beauty. Whether it’s a handpicked lipstick palette or a custom fragrance. In this case it’s The Body Shop’s new customisable eye shadow palettes. The pans are inexpensive as are the cases so you can affordably build an eye shadow wardrobe to suit you.
Viktor and Rolf Bonbon Spring Summer, $145.00 available June 19th
Another fragrance packaged so delightfully, it’s hard to resist. We’re fans of Flowerbomb but this is our first experience with Bonbon. Sweet with a hint of floral. It has notes of grapefruit, pink sugar and crystallised jasmine.
