Gal of Style – Nerida Lister

What is inside the wardrobe of this talented dancer? Nerida Lister danced her way into the hearts of New Zealanders when she competed in Dancing With The Stars. This impeccably stylish woman now runs her own dance school – First Dance – where she teaches brides-to-be how to perform the perfect first dance on their wedding day, runs beginner’s ballroom dancing classes and teaches gentle dance classes for woman who want to lose their post-baby weight. Nerida always looks fabulous which is why FashioNZ chose her to be our gal of style this week.

What is your favourite item of clothing?
My favourite item of clothing is my Alannah Hill dress I bought a year ago. It makes me feel beautifully feminine as soon as I put it on.

Who is your favourite New Zealand designer?
My favourite designer is Trelise Cooper. Her clothes are immediately recognisable and they ooze style and femininity, yet they also make you feel proud of what shape or size you are.

If you were invited to attend the Academy Awards, who would you ask to design a dress for you?
I would love Trelise to dress me. I feel her clothes show personality and help one to stand out for all the right reasons!!

What have been your best buys so far this Spring?
To be honest, I haven’t been shopping much for this season yet, but I am on the lookout for a fantastic Melbourne Cup day dress.

What has been your biggest fashion mistake?
My biggest fashion mistake are my pyjamas. To be honest, its really hard to look fabulous and be comfortable at the same time!

What is your favourite fashion purchase/garment/outfit of all time?
My favourite boots of all time are some Italian made blue suede boots with brown trimmings on the heels and toes. They are lined in red leather and have an eagle on the heel (gee, that sounds gastly, but they are fab!) They originally cost $1800 but I bought them second hand. I wear them at every opportunity.

You would rather eat your own shirt than wear…
I would never never never never never EVER wear CROCS. I know they are really comfortable but SOOOOOO UGLY!!
