Looks from Natalie Chan’s “Savoir-Faire” collection. Images supplied.
Natalie Chan is known for her grace, elegance and style so it’s no surprise that her latest gorgeous millinery collection is called “Savoir-Faire” and it’s as poised and charming as you would expect. Chan’s romantic style mixes vintage influences with clever techniques which means her pieces have an old world appeal but modern sensibility.
Headwear continues to gain popularity for many types of occasions now and Chan’s new collection lends itself to lots of different events and looks. For this range she’s favoured several different shapes and sizes ranging from pretty floral headbands and pillbox styles through to bigger sculptural designs that have a dramatic effect. The pieces are beautifully embellished with deconstructed butterfly wings and carefully constructed flowers made from silk and leather in a classic colour palette of ivory, black, french navy and nude with pops of scarlet and rose. Each one is crafted by hand using artisanal techniques by Chan and her team whose precise attention to detail and creativity is why her customers keep coming back.
Chan launched the collection with a wonderfully intimate event at her boutique last week which introduced her winsome new pieces to an admiring group of friends, clients and media. Guests were treated to Chan’s favourite Mumm Cordon Rouge champagne and decadent delights from Vaniye and Milse while they browsed the delightful new pieces. The room was filled with beautiful blooms from Cartier for Flowers and candles from Côte Noire which heighted the sweetly scented air. Trying on the pieces was made even more entertaining with talented illustrator Rebecca ter Borg on hand to draw guests in their favourite headwear, with a sketch of the wearer and their choice of hat a unique and special take home gift to add to the goodie bag treats from MOR, Lindi Kingi, Bobbi Brown and Essie.
Natalie Chan’s “Savoir-Faire”collection is available for viewing in her Parnell boutique or online with a personalised bespoke service also on offer.
