The latest version of Miss Crabb‘s Chiaroscuro collection is full of bold pieces that play with the ideas of darkness and light. The effect is wonderfully painterly emphasised by stunning custom colours of jade green, hazelnut, Cinderella blue and a regal ode to Prince with a rich purple. As is the brand’s signature, fabrics are luscious and flowing with delicate silk yoryu, crepe de chine silk, crushed velvet and pale silk satin.
Each piece has a beautiful energy and sense of freedom which is created by a range of appealing silhouettes and fabrics that skim the body just so. Designer and founder Kristine Crabb was inspired by robe and Persian dressing which led her to create stunning new silhouettes and experiment with volume as well as fitted shapes.
Among the key pieces for this Miss Crabb collection is the sublime Prince Queen Dress in jade green which is a clever combination of a blouse and a robe that is versatile and able to worn multiple ways. Another stellar piece is the Beautiful Collision Dress in winsome diamond velvet. While it may be a simple wrap sheath dress with a side opening and split at the back, it’s a striking dress that creates a wonderful sense of movement and fluidity. The custom Miss Crabb diamond crushed silk velvet is cleverly designed to reflect light and darkness with a romance and softness. It’s a special piece that is perfect for exciting events and those special nights out.
The stunning imagery that accompanies the collection was shot by Andrei Blidarean with creative direction and production by Oliver Guyon, and is inspired by Man Ray’s photography and Surrealist 1960s films, as is the collection. Those concepts are reflected in the monochromatic outfits, colours and modern silhouettes. The spiraling and twisting poses of model Daisy Wells have a dynamic energy and burst through the darkness of the backdrop.
Miss Crabb’s Chiaroscuro collection is available in stores and online now.
