Mindful Fashion New Zealand is hosting an online panel discussion event called Building Brands for a Better Future which will be a thought-provoking conversation about how fashion can be done differently. The event was previously meant to be hosted at the now cancelled New Zealand Fashion Week and in light of our current situation in Aotearoa has moved online to be accessible to all. The event is being held on Tuesday 29th March from 6.30 – 7.30 pm and will be hosted by Simon Pound from Ingrid Starnes, Business is Boring and Previously Unavailable.
The panel includes fashion industry experts Jessie Wong – Founder and CEO, YuMei, Elisha Watson – Founder and CEO, Nisa, Bobby Campbell Luke – designer and founder Campbell Luke and Emma Ensor – co-owner and CEO, Standard Issue.
The event is suitable for anyone thinking about starting a business, already in business or with an interest in how we can all be approaching fashion in a better and more sustainable way. It’s become clear in recent years that it is imperative for anyone starting a business today to consider holistic sustainability principles as a core part of their business, and this event is designed to spark ideas for both emerging and established brands.
Elisha Watson, founder of Nisa says “Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword – customers are demanding it and are doing their research. We need brands that will step up and do the mahi, and do it in a way that is authentic to their vision and their story. This is the new normal.”
Jessie Wong, founder of Yu Mei says “”Sustainability is no longer an afterthought, nor should it be used as a marketing tool. We are living in the age where sustainability and considerations of environmental, social, economic and cultural impact are prerequisites for doing business.”
Jacinta FitzGerald, Programme Director at Mindful Fashion says “Anyone launching a business today must have sustainability principles at their core. We have some incredible trailblazing brands in New Zealand who are using business to create positive outcomes for people and the planet, and leading the way towards a better future. One of our roles at Mindful Fashion is to shine a light on these businesses and help create impactful change within the industry at large.”
