Mina recently released the brand’s Spring/Summer 21 collection with the beautiful second drop arriving in stores and online today. Mina’s founder and designer Natalie Procter wanted this range to celebrate the bond between mother and daughter, in particular herself and her mother Michelle, who has been a key part of Mina since the start and taught little Natalie the basics of sewing as a child.
The first drop from the collection is titled One Woman to Another and presents an elegant range of looks that can be enjoyed and worn by women of every age. The clothing features beautiful silhouettes and tones that both Natalie and Michelle share a fondness for and invite the wearer to embrace her individualism and go forward confidently. A chic trenchcoat, two-toned midi skirt and one shouldered top are among the highlights, with the natural beauty of the Coromandel and their shared memories of the coast inspiring the soft colour palette of neutrals with pops of olive green and cornflower blue.
It’s appropriate then that the second drop from Mina’s SS 21 collection is called A Nostalgic Summer and Natalie reminisced on summers past when designing the range during the nationwide lockdown earlier this year. She wanted the collection to celebrate fond memories that the warmer months bring and the joyfulness of summer. That definitely comes through in the charming tiered dresses and slips, not to mention the tailored linen pants and breezy tops all of which are perfect for hazy summer days. The connection between mother and daughter is present throughout the range too and continues into the next drop which arrives next month.
The accompanying campaign imagery beautifully captures the mother and daughter bond too, with veteran model Amanda Bransgrove and established model Derya Parlak portraying the different generations. Showcasing the collection on the two women also shows how well the clothing works for women of any age, as both Amanda and Derya look stunning in these elegant garments.
Each piece in Mina’s SS21 collection is carefully considered in line with the brand’s ethos of using natural fabrics and producing their garments ethically. Whether it’s a charming slip dress or a chic trench every piece is designed and made in New Zealand in a conscious way to minimise waste and the impact on the environment. Mina want the clothes to be loved for many seasons to come so they are designed to last and be treasured.
