There is nothing quite like soaking in a hot bath filled with luxurious aromas, the experience is perfect for de-stressing or just taking some “me” time away from your family, can I get a Hallelujah from all the Mums out there?! So, we have put together a list of our favourite bath products and how you can create them at home using your own favourite scents and colours, with most of the ingredients found in your kitchen and garden. Because who said luxurious products had to cost a (bath) bomb?
Bath Milk
1 1/2 cups powdered soy or dairy milk
1/2 cup Epsom salts
5 – 8 drops of Essential oil of your choice
1/2 cup flower petals of your choice
2 – 3 drops of food colouring to suit the essential oil and flower petals
Mix the milk powder and the Epsom salts together then add your food colouring and mix well. Then add your essential oil and your flower petals to match your food colouring, mix together and pop into a mason jar for storage.
Bath Bomb
2 cups baking soda
1 cup citric acid
1 cup of corn starch
1/2 teaspoon essential oil
1-3 teaspoons olive oil
Dried flowers
5 drops food colouring
Water in a spray bottle
Round mold to shape the bombs
Mix your dry ingredients together then add the essential oils and the food colouring, spray the mixture with cold water until it starts to clump up and has the consistency of wet sand. Once the mixture is at the right consistency, pack it into the round molds then pop them out and let them dry out for about 2 -3 days.
Bubble Bath
1 cup clear, unscented dish soap
2/3 cup liquid vegetable glycerin
1/4 cup water
3-4 drops essential oil of your choice
Food colouring
Mix the liquid soap, glycerin, water and essential oil together into a cup with a spout on it for easy pouring then add your food colouring and pop into a mason jar for storage.
Body scrub
1 1/2 cups of brown sugar
1 cup of coconut oil
1 tablespoon of sweet almond or jojoba oil
Petals from one rose
1 clean mason jar with a lid
Pour the coconut oil into a jar then add your rose petals, add the sugar and jojoba oil then mix well and let sit and cure for around 4 days before using.
Bath salts
3 cups Epsom salt
2 cups of sea salt
2 tbsp essential oil
1/2 cup baking soda
Mix the ingredients together then add the essential oil, it’s best to use a fork to mix the ingredients together well to break up any clumps. Then pop in a mason jar for storage.
