Maggie Marilyn has just dropped the brand’s sublime Season 9 collection in stores and online with some truly gorgeous pieces on offer for the new season. Designer Maggie Hewitt captured our hearts and imaginations with this range when it debuted on the New Zealand Fashion Week 2019 runway last year. From the opening ruffled blue suit with its winsome charm to the floor sweeping gowns that are oh so romantic, Maggie Marilyn’s latest range truly wears its heart on its sleeve.
That goes for more than just the aesthetic too, with the brand continuing to level up in its commitment to sustainability and transparency with their supply chain and business in general. Last season, Maggie Marilyn introduced detailed information on their online store as to where the fabric was sourced from and where each garment was made in line with the brand’s sustainability policies. Since then they’ve launched their Somewhere range which is designed to eventually be fully circular and they continue to introduce new sustainable fabrics and look for ways to make their business as sustainable as possible, striving for progress not perfection.
This beautiful collection is made even more appealing knowing that it is mindfully made and Maggie and her team recently introduced events to engage with their community on their values in a meaningful way too. You can find out more about those on the brand’s website.
Coming back to the clothing, Maggie Marilyn’s signature of joyful confidence is written all over this collection. The designer’s love of playful ruffles, flowing skirts and perfectly tailored blazers were all evident in the range with lots of modern dressing options for women of all ages. One of the most interesting things about Maggie Marilyn’s style is how optimistic it is season after season, even black doesn’t feel gloomy but more glamorous and confident. Among the charming new hues this season is a pine green that features on a leafy line print and is perfectly complemented by a lovely colour palette of navy, cornflower blue, pink, grey, beige and apple green.
From the beginning Maggie Marilyn has had an approach that is all about the details, whether it’s the layered ruffles and rows of matching buttons on enviable suiting or the careful draping and straps that make a dress sit just so. This range sees those details feature on red carpet worthy gowns and take charge suits that will no doubt be on many women’s wish lists this season. After all, who wouldn’t want to wear garments that are this beautiful inside and out?
