Maggie Marilyn‘s beautiful Season 8 collection is in stores and online this week with designer Maggie Hewitt delivering another imaginative and sustainable collection. Season 8 picks up on popular styles from previous seasons with knotted details, ruffles and clever tailoring featured in this collection with some favourite pieces returning in new hues. This range introduces sublime colours of lavender, melon and khaki that work beautifully with the designer’s favoured pinks, blues and peaches. There is always a sense of joy in Maggie Marilyn’s collections and Season 8 is truly a delight.
The range is for the Resort 2020 season so of course there are the perfect slip dresses, crop tops and bias cut skirts. Maggie has introduced a charming ruched front top in sunset hues and iridescent melon that are playful and easily adjusted depending on how much skin you want to reveal or not. There’s more utilitarian jackets and pants in this collection which make for classic, timeless looks that are practical and elegant. Maggie Marilyn loves blazers and this season sees gorgeous new styles with button detailing and matching pants. Knits also feature in this range with a sweet cardigan and singlet in lavender and orange making for a modern version of the twinset.
As the brand recently refreshed their website, their online store now offers detailed information on where the fabric was sourced from and where each garment was made in line with Maggie Marilyn’s sustainability policies. There is also helpful information on how to care for each garment and the brand even sells washing bags on their online store which help to reduce micro-plastic shedding due to washing of polyester-based garments. The brand is passionate about supporting New Zealand’s garment production industry and the lookbook for this range was even shot on location at some of the brand’s manufacturers in NZ. Maggie Marilyn is certainly a company with heart and a conscience, not to mention making some of the most winsome clothes out. Season 8 is a perfect example of how to do modern, thoughtful fashion that is good for you and good for our planet.
