Summer’s cutest new arrival, Mini Maaike, made its debut yesterday and the adorable new childrenswear range is already selling out fast. The label is the brainchild of Maaike designers Abby van Schreven and Emilie Pullar, along with their friend and graphic designer Jess Moore from Scizzorface. The trio have worked together on Maaike’s prints for nearly 8 years and Jess also does the brand’s web design. The three friends have long wanted to create a kid’s range and inspired by their cute nieces and nephews, Mini Maaike was born.
The first collection takes its cue from Maaike’s Summer 17/18 collection ‘Who’s Pulling the Strings?’ with the mini ‘I’m Pulling the Strings Print’ a play on its adult version. The designers have also shrunk down their signature zig zag print which makes for perfectly playful childrenswear in monochromatic hues. Each piece is made in Auckland with the range designed to be unisex, starting at 0 – 3 months through to 4 years. Something tells us Mini Maaike will quickly gain many mini followers.
