Looks from Taylor’s Continuous Line collection for Autumn/Winter 2018. Images supplied.
The latest collection from contemporary womenswear brand Taylor is titled Continuous Line and has been arriving in stores for Autumn/Winter 2018. Designer Vicki Taylor has perfected her brand of elegant dressing that mixes European influences with many Kiwi women’s desire to dress cleanly with minimal fuss. Her latest collection cleverly explores volume and texture with modern silhouettes that feature ruching and draping.
While on location for Taylor’s Spring/Summer 2018 campaign shoot at Auckland Art Gallery, Vicki was enchanted by paintings from English abstract painter Ben Nicholson. In particular it was the architectural linear presence in his 1950’s ivory work that inspired her to create Continuous Line. The mixture of clean and curved lines from those paintings translates beautifully into garments that are intelligently cut and fall just so.
Moving away from her favoured monochromatic colour palette this season, Taylor’s collection pops with rust and teal that work nicely with neutral tones. Each garment layers wonderfully to create sophisticated looks that have an elegant modernity. Luxurious touches come in the form of velvet, silk mesh and soft wool that are as wonderful to wear as they are to look at. Taylor certainly hits all the right notes this season.
