Known for their beautiful jewellery, Luna & Rose recently expanded into clothing launching a sustainable range called Easy on the Earth. The new range features relaxed wardrobe staples that have been handcrafted using natural fibres with a focus on linen and organic cotton. Designer and founder Rosie Shelton was drawn to using natural and biodegradable fibres in line with the environmentally friendly ethos of her brand.
The textiles utilised for the collection are all coloured by hand using the age-old process of plant-based dyeing. Locally grown leaves are gathered and then mixed together to form the unique hues which include Cinnamon, Chia, Macadamia, Pepper and White, the result is entirely toxic-free. Luna & Rose’s style of small-scale sustainable production is dedicated to planet-centric design and the business employs a talented team of local artisans in Bali to produce the designs.
“Luna & Rose has resisted moving into a more commercial production, choosing instead to support people and the craft we are continually evolving to be a truly sustainable business by focusing on our staff, our production processes and ultimately, helping the planet,” says Rosie Shelton.
The collection itself is full of feel-good pieces which make it perfect for summer. The capsule includes the casual Shandy Shirt which is designed to be worn buttoned up or undone as an over-shirt. While the Willow Shorts are super comfy in linen with an elastic and drawstring waist and relaxed side pockets. The Luna & Rose Classic Tee is an everyday t-shirt made from super soft organic cotton, a simple rib neckline and straight hem. They’re a great match for the Frankie Pants which are easy-to-wear stylish linen trousers and the collection is rounded out by the wide-brimmed Alfie Hat.
