Lucilla Gray on the runway at New Zealand Fashion Week 2016
Wellington-based designer Lucilla Gray is definitely one to watch, with her label going from strength to strength since she made her debut at London Fashion Week in early 2015. Her Fall-Winter 2017 collection did not disappoint. Even the catwalk’s backdrop was adorned with Instagram-worthy flora and fauna + home décor. We spotted many a phone in the audience capturing the details and pieces that were being lusted after and there were definitely a few audible gasps of delight floating across the runway.
The models all sported flowing, crimped waves which reflected the floaty, delicate quality to Lucilla’s pieces. There was plenty of whites and creams as well as a bold, artist’s palette inspired print which took the fancy of a few of the fashion editors.
Shearling and exquisite wool blends were featured in the forms of winter coats and cropped jackets. I certainly was taken by the coats which Lucilla definitely bought her own individualised take to. If you’re more of a pants person you’ll love this collection with its focus on these in many of the looks. There’s everything from your tapered leg through to the crepe waists and of course the on-trend wide legged pant we all know and love. Truly an elegant, contemporary and sophisticated collection, Lucilla Gray can do no wrong in our book.
