Looks from Liam's new Grace collection.
Liam have just released their spring 2016 collection titled "Grace" which celebrates two women of different worlds, who share not only the name Grace, but also strength and confidence. The first is inimitable disco diva Grace Jones, whose androgynous style and powerful persona has inspired many since she rose to fame in the late 1970s. The second is the late Grace Kelly, who was a beloved silver screen actress in the 1950s before she married Prince Ranier III and retired from acting to become a real-life princess taking the title of Princess of Monaco in 1956.
Designer Emily Miller-Sharma looked to the style and presence of both these influential women while staying true to the elegant Liam aesthetic that flirts with irreverence. Grace Kelly's classic look influenced the nipped in waists, full midi-length skirts and buttoned up tops, while Miller-Sharma channelled Jones for the masculine tailoring and pops of bold burnt orange. This season the designer has reworked tradition four piece suiting, replacing the waistcoat with a tunic top which is meant to be layered over trousers and a shirt, the look pulled together by a trench coat over the top for a modern effect.
Spring definitely isn't the warmest season in New Zealand, so alongside the silk crepe de chine dresses and skirts are heavier ponti knits and warm wool blends for the cooler days. A beautiful hand-drawn floral print and silver stripes add playful textures to the collection. Grace is a gorgeous tribute to two fascinating women and invites you two embrace your individuality and confidence this season.
