Liam‘s Autumn/Winter 2019 collection launched in RUBY stores and online today with designer Emily Miller-Sharma posing the question ‘What Does Full Circle Mean?’ The designer utilises her new collection as a way to explore the answers and found herself returning to her origins, with her grandmothers providing significant inspiration. That exploration also led her to using the simple geometry of repeated circles, with Miller-Sharma incorporating playful pattern cutting techniques into the new collection. The result is beautifully relaxed pieces that are soft in silhouette and gentle in drape.
Key looks from the collection include the Fortuna pieces which are named after the goddess who spins the Wheel of Fortune. Elegant circle cut capes feature on a gorgeous full length bias cut gown and short sleeve blouse both with open backs. Miller-Sharma has previously explored bias cutting and draping but this season takes her exploration further with these new garments featuring languid silhouettes and are oh so flattering on many different shapes.
The sweetly named Carol is a charming floral print that is inspired by passed down clothes and watercolour paintings from her grandmothers. The lovely print sets the colour palette for this collection with green, blue, brown and fuchsia making for a retro inspired but of the moment feel. The Carol Silk Slip and Knit Dress are special pieces that will give the wearer confidence and joy.
Liam has introduced recycled polyester into this collection as the brand moves towards the use of sustainable fabrics. Plastic bottles have been diverted from landfills and recycled into new fabric to make Coterie, a wonderful A-line skirt and lush cowl-neck top. The black colourway is made from full recycled polyester while the floral colourway has recycled lining which makes these choices good for the wardrobe and the environment. The brand has always excelled at sophisticated coats and this season their classic coat shape returns in a mid-length, A-line style. Camel coats never go out of style and Liam’s Eclipse coat is a true investment piece that is made to last.
The collection is brought to life by stunning model Naomi Shimada, who brings a warmth and joyous energy to the range. Liam’s latest offering is nothing short of magical and promises the wearer a winter full of glorious adventures.
