Beloved, iconic and cult denim brand – Levi’s have stepped back in time and taken style cues from the era of peace, love and music with their inspired ‘70s High collection, fit for the whole family.
For several seasons now, high-waisted jeans have been the major trend. And while that trend is continuing for Fall/Winter 2021, this season’s take is all about ‘70s—both literally and figuratively. Taking inspiration from the classic styles of the Levi’s Orange Tab archives, Levi’s have created a brand-new range of denim fits for Fall ’21 that they are calling the Levi’s ‘70s High.
“We’re really excited to see people embracing new silhouettes in denim, especially styles inspired by the ‘70s,” says Jill Guenza, VP, Global Women’s Design at Levi’s. “Our new 70s High Slim Straight and 70s High Flare give a nod to Levi’s Orange Tab fits from the 1970s while feeling super relevant for right now. They both have a modern, super high rise with a zip fly to keep things smooth. In keeping with the trend toward shoe-covering lengths, we purposefully designed the inseams to have just the right amount of stacking on the shoe. One of the best features of the 70s High fits is the instant attitude they give to any outfit. The 70s Flare lends art-school eclecticism when paired with sneakers, a sweater vest, and a blazer. Or go for a more sophisticated look with the 70s High Slim Straight, boots, and a fitted vintage-inspired trucker. Both fits offer infinitely cool styling potential.”
For those who are wanting to step away from the recent seasons of skinny ankle length and cropped jeans and into something with a little more “flare,” the new ‘70s High styles feature the classic wide hem look that really came to define the 1970s silhouettes. Based on a similar Orange Tab fit from the archives, the ‘70s High Flare features a fitted super high waist and a zip fly, a straight, relaxed thigh, and a flare that starts just above the knee and stacks slightly on the shoe.
And if flare is not your thing and you are looking to keep it slimmer, try the ‘70s High Straight, which features the same fitted super high waist and zip fly, only with a straight leg that’s designed to stack slightly over the shoe. It’s a slightly slimmer look than the Flare, but still with a ‘70s vibe thanks to its Orange Tab ancestry.
Last but not least, there’s the ‘70s High Micro Mini, a quintessentially 1970s denim mini skirt that features the fitted super high waist and zip fly, and a short, slim-fitting silhouette, hitting high above the knee.
For the guys, there is the new So-High Boot – a truly classic ’70s vibe, complete with a higher waist and slight flare emblematic of Orange Tab archive styles. For those keen to keep things a little more modern, try the So-High Slim – a slightly more grungy fit with its roots in ’90s-does-’70s trends.
Each of the styles in the collection, while made from modern, sustainable fabrics, still retains that vintage look thanks to the Orange Tab-inspired details like the coin pocket, the stitching, and the slightly flattened arcuate on the back pockets.
You can find all styles online now and at leading Levi’s retailers nationwide.
