This weekend sees a special pop-up at Saben‘s Ponsonby boutique with emerging womenswear label Layplan launching their first full collection in store. The colourful pop-up will offer a first look at Layplan’s beautiful new collection which launches online on Monday 19 October. As the brand is usually only available to buy online it’s an exciting chance for Layplan’s customers to try-on and purchase the new pieces in person before they’re released online.
For Saben it’s part of an initiative in support of the fashion industry and women in business. “It’s about creating deliberate opportunities to encourage emerging brands. Lavinia and Talia are so talented,” says Saben founder and designer Roanne Jacobson “If 2020 has taught us anything it’s about the strength of community and the importance of supporting local.”
The two brands also have a shared love of colour and stylish design and their styles complement each other beautifully. As Jacobson explains, “We were originally drawn to Layplan for their confident use of colour, sculptural silhouettes and interesting textures – all things that mirror our own design ethos.”
Saben have previously borrowed Layplan pieces to style with their handbags for photoshoots, and they know that Saben’s customers will also appreciate Layplan’s laid back yet directional style. “The easy-wear of Layplan’s iconic over-sized silhouette and easy-care nature of their fabrics is advantageous to our customers who are managing the chaos and complexities of modern day life,” adds Roanne Jacobson.
This weekend’s pop-up will also give Saben’s customers a chance to meet designers Lavinia and Talia who will be in store over the weekend too. Layplan pops up in store at Saben on Saturday 17 October 10am – 5pm and Sunday 18 October 10am – 4pm.
