Specsavers launched their latest collaboration this week with popstar and style icon Kylie Minogue joining the brand to unveil her first ever eyewear collection. Kylie Minogue Eyewear is exclusive to Specsavers and is available from today at Specsavers stores with the new collection featuring 25 glasses and four prescription sunglasses.
“Designing the glasses and collaborating with Specsavers has been a fabulous experience. I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from the idea of modern classics, popular shapes and styles that suit most people, but with my own personal twist on each frame,” says Kylie. “I first started wearing glasses when I was in my early twenties. I’d been experiencing headaches and had difficulty maintaining focus when reading, so I had my eyes tested and I’ve been a specs wearer ever since.”
Kylie’s collection certainly covers all the bases with her glasses drawing inspiration from different eras in a variety of shapes, colours and textures. Each frame features a striking angled temple and her iconic ‘K’ tag for a chic but understated hint of Kylie glamour. “Expressing yourself with your glasses provides a fantastic opportunity to change up your look, which I personally love to do, so having a real mixture of styles is definitely something that works for me,” adds Kylie. “I like to combine that functional day-to-day look with a little more glamour for the evening. That’s something I’ve incorporated into the collection, through what I like to call a hint of subtle bling!”
It was important to Kylie that the collection has several styles in smaller sizes as being a petite person it’s something she’s found difficult at times. “At my request, we made sure the collection includes some petite styles,” she says. “I know what it’s like searching for glasses and not being able to find any that fit. We’ve really made sure there’s something in there for everyone!”
Kylie launched the collection to media in person this week in Sydney with the help of E! Australia host, Ksenija Lukich. A fashion show featuring top Australian model Samantha Harris gave the guests a chance to see the glasses on a variety of different faces.
“I have an extensive collection of glasses comprising of hundreds of pairs, it’s crazy I know!” enthuses Kylie. “I looked back at my favourite specs from over the years when I first began working on the collection, for added inspiration.” There is certainly plenty of styles in Kylie’s collection to inspire shoppers at Specsavers 52 New Zealand stores this season.
