Kristine Crabb has returned from a two year hiatus after closing her beloved fashion label Miss Crabb in early 2019, with a new creative project called Gloria. Artistic by nature, Kristine enjoyed time with her family and a break from running a business, but she wanted to share her creative work again which was the impetus for her return in a different form with Gloria.

Gloria was Kristine’s grandmother’s name and the project is dedicated to “life, love, nature, bodies and the seven senses, with a focus on clothes, people, photography and anything else,” says Kristine Crabb. In that regard, Gloria is a cross-disciplinary and multi-sensory studio, embracing a fluid platform; both online, and at the by-appointment showroom on Ponsonby Road.

The first project release is a beautiful new perfume aptly titled Gloria, which was made by Kristine’s dear friend, fragrance developer Tiffany Witehira of luxury parfum house CURIONOIR. “We have had a long and fruitful friendship, and together we have supported each other through many facets of our lives, personally and within business. This was my taonga to you,” adds Tiffany Witehira.

Gloria Extrait de Parfum by CURIONOIR is a dynamic fragrance inspired by Kristine’s grandmother Gloria and her garden, also an homage to her life, strength and independence. Formulated in Grasse, France and hand-poured in Aotearoa, Gloria is a poetic floral bouquet, fortified with woody spices and grounded by a dark, dirty earthiness. It features wonderful notes of Jasmine, Freesia, Mimosa, Camelia, Lily of the Valley, Clovebud, Sandalwood and Ambergris.

The spellbinding perfume is accompanied by a special visual campaign featuring Lil Frances Barber, photographed by Annamarie Ott and a series of short films by Manon Elphick-Aulon that can be found on Gloria’s website. Gloria is available in a classic style 50ml glass bottle, adorned with red silk rouleau and a bronze charm by local jeweller Lucinda Barrett, and can be purchased online or via the showroom at 199 Ponsonby Road.

Those hoping that the return of Kristine Crabb will also involve clothing will not be disappointed either, as the designer has released a limited number of garments on Gloria’s website and Kristine is available for custom projects too, so you can get a piece made just for you. Something tells us this news will make Miss Crabb’s many fans very happy indeed.
