Kowtow‘s stunning new Spring/Summer collection starts arriving in stores and online today with eyecatching range inspired by the works of Yves Klein, Donald Sultan, Bridget Riley and Bruno Munari. The popular ethical brand has chosen a sea of beautiful blues for the range with Yves Klein’s ‘International Klein Blue’ the jumping off point for new technical fabrics also with a new oxford weave, reminiscent of a blank canvas with sharp white contrast which makes for a fascinating effect.

A suitably summery palette of Clay, Indigo, Ceramic Blue, Chalky Pink, Poppy and Sun brings to mind a charming garden of flowers. While Kowtow have used their favoured organic cotton and denim to create wearable, practical pieces that are made to last. This season’s knitwear features a monochrome sketch print inspired by Donald Sultan which ‘adheres to classic simplicity through organic shapes and nature’. The artistic influence continues with sharp stripes in vertical and diagonal directions inspired by the work of Bridget Riley while the optimistic spirit of Bruno Munari sees Kowtow embrace volume in a playful primary yellow check and a sheer woven check.

Leading the way with ethical production, Kowtow create all their fabrics which are designed from the yarn. The brand carefully considers the values for every garment including sustainable sourcing, fair wages, longevity and circularity. It makes for a slower design process which can take over 16 months from design to season launch but means the brand can be certain that every step of the way adhere’s to Kowtow’s high standard for fair trade production.
