KORA

I’m almost positive that everybody knows who Miranda Kerr is, but, for those of you who don’t, let me fill you in.

Miranda started her career in modeling before she left high school, when she won the Dolly Magazine competition in 1997. Her career has consisted of a mix of high profile runway shows, fashion and beauty shoots, as well advertising in television and print. In 2008, Victoria's Secret signed Miranda as its newest Angel. She was the first Australian model ever to appear in a Victoria's Secret runway show. Miranda now lives in New York and has established herself as one of the top 10 models in the world and someone who cares passionately about health and well-being. She balances her hectic lifestyle with yoga, meditation and regular exercise.

We have the low down from Miranda herself on her new skincare range – KORA (named after a type of meditation in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition).

In my industry looking after my skin is really important and what I put on my skin really matters.

Due to loving and appreciating all things natural and organic, approximately three years ago I started developing my own range of organic skincare. With a team of experts I personally created KORA Organic Skincare. The first step was bringing together natural and organic ingredients that I personally used and knew would deliver results. I then asked a lot of women what they actually wanted in skincare. We held focus groups where women of all ages trialed the products and I also personally trialed all the samples myself, taking them around the world with me; everywhere from Sydney to Paris to New York!!

Designed to nourish, replenish and re-hydrate the skin, KORA products are infused with antioxidant rich Noni, Herbal Extracts, and Essential Oils and contain the highest quality plant derived and organic ingredients. KORA reflects my passion for living a healthy, organic lifestyle and provides an opportunity for me to share my knowledge and experience of all things natural and organic.

Noni – KORA's Special Ingredient

Noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) is a tree native to Pacific Islands and Tahiti. It's been used in Polynesia for over 2000 years for its beneficial properties and is thought to help a whole host of health issues plus boost energy and improve skin condition. It's very high in Vitamin C, antioxidants and can help minimise free radical damage.

Noni is a maco nutrient and is also indigenous to Australia; grown wild it's known by Aborigines as 'bush tucker'. It was first introduced to Miranda by her grandparents, Anne and Peter Kerr, when she was twelve as a drink. Miranda swears by Noni, which she has everyday; and believes that its nutritional properties gives her the energy she needs and helps keep her skin in fabulous shape.

Apart from having it as a drink, Miranda also uses Noni, soaked onto cotton wool to refresh her skin and has also found it helpful for jetlag.

When I first heard about Noni juice a few years ago I actually went and got a bottle to try out for myself. I must say my skin was brighter and I had much more energy but the stuff tastes awful. I even tried mixing it with orange juice but to no avail, the thought of it now still makes me gag.

Kora is only available in Australian department store David Jones, which Miranda is the Brand Ambassador for and online.
