Kiwi model, Maia Cotton features in the campaign for the new BONDS Intimately range which also features Australian transgender model Andreja Pejic. The duo are among a group of empowering female ambassadors for the collection which celebrates the modern woman. The campaign is designed to champion body positivity and celebrate individual beauty.
BONDS Intimately is a innovative collection featuring beautifully soft lace pieces that are comfortable and affordable. The range is available in an array of colourways and styles (running from A-F cup size), and are meant to make the wearer feel confident and empowered. It marks Andreja’s first underwear campaign and is the first time a trans model has fronted an international underwear campaign in the Southern hemisphere.
“BONDS is for every Kiwi woman,” says Bonds Marketing Manager, Emily Small. “Taking a strong and feminine stance on intimates, our “All The Feels” campaign celebrates the real, raw, up-front beauty of the modern woman. We think it’s important to challenge what we see in the media with a more authentic reflection of beauty and hope to grow people’s visual vocabulary.”
BONDS Intimately is available for purchase in Farmers stores nationwide and online from March 17th.
We caught up with Maia Cotton to find out what she loves about the BONDS Intimately range and how she feels about body positivity.
If you could, what would you tell your younger self today?
I was definitely an over-thinker growing up, so I would say… don’t sweat the small stuff. Life is much more enjoyable when you smile more, enjoy the journey, and embrace each moment!
What do you look for when shopping for underwear?
I look for a combination of style and comfort. I love underwear that is chic and playful, but can also be worn all day without trouble.
What pieces from the Bonds Intimately range do you love the most and why?
The Intimately Triangle Bra in Love Bird. I love this bralette because it can be styled under a tank or oversized t-shirt to add to your look.
What does body positivity mean to you?
To me, body positivity is accepting and embracing my body and the bodies of others for the incredible thing that it is. It is about celebrating our differences and loving them.
What’s one word you’d use to describe how you feel about your body?
Powerful.
Tell us about the last time you had ‘All the feels’.
The last time I had ‘all the feels’ was when I came home to New Zealand and surprised my Nana. She had no idea I was coming home and it was such a happy moment.
What do you love/miss most about your home, New Zealand?
I miss my family and friends of course, but also little things like driving on the open road, the amazing food and the beach. Kiwi summers are the best!
What does 2019 have in store for you?
2019 has a lot in store for me, I hope. The modelling industry is unexpected and so full of twists and turns that it can be hard to predict exactly what will happen. Kicking off the year with Bonds is an exciting start though!
