On the runway at Kharl-William Wirepa show at New Zealand Fashion Week 2016
Once the vibrant, glitzy pink dress on the first model sashayed its way onto the runway, we knew we were in for a glittering treat with Kharl-William Wirepa’s collection. There was lots of colour, jewels and even tiaras adorning the model’s heads for a majestic touch.
While the focus was on occasion pieces like the formal gowns which would be perfect the upcoming wedding and party season, there were also some simple versatile pieces that would suit daywear and transition well to cocktail hour. We loved the dramatic champagne, crystal embellished gowns that were the perfect blend of luxe and glamour with a nod to the golden age of glamour, the twenties.
Throughout the collection Kharl-William Wirepa successfully blends the fun and functional items together resulting in looks that are hard to look away from. Think glitzy tops with tapered trousers and shift dresses with statement necklaces. The fringing and intricate beading that appeared in many of the pieces was exquisite.
Kharl-William Wirepa’s collection was fun, sparkly and certainly bought the glitz to fashion week which we love to see.
Beauty notes: A soft, berry lip contrasted with dramatic, thick winged eyeliner.
Hot Item: The embellished black cropped jacket, such a beautiful, fun addition to any wardrobe.
