Kay Goss' Stunning Runway Debut

Models on the runway at Cibo in Kay Goss' Resort 2017 collection.

Kay Goss brought her beautiful womenswear label to the runway for the first time recently at top Parnell restaurant, Cibo. The event was in collaboration with Beebio Skincare and Aston Martin which are fittingly high end partners for Goss' luxurious label, and the night saw a well turned out crowd celebrate Aston Martin's return to the Formula One circuit as well as Goss' runway debut. We first found Kay Goss' winsome label online a few years ago but it wasn't until her garments were stocked at The Shelter when it first opened in 2014 that we got to see the gorgeous fabrics and exacting craftsmanship of her pieces in person.

Although her label was founded in 1996 it has been a slow burner, however they do say that good things take time and Goss has been steadily gaining more attention for her brand. Since getting a US agent the label has gotten celebrity attention which has been a huge boost for Kay Goss' profile, most notably when Lady Gaga wore a white silk bralet and skirt to the Billboard Women In Music awards lunch in New York late last year, then publicly thanked Goss to her millions of social media followers. It's that kind of endorsement that brings in huge amounts of interest although Goss is still keeping her business manufactured in New Zealand, now shipping to the world via her online store.

We were greatly anticipating seeing her Resort 2017 collection on the runway and were completely captivated by each divine look on model after model. Although originally specialising in lingerie, Goss has moved into womenswear while still keeping the sensual aesthetic of lingerie. Sumptuous velvet, delicately pretty lace and shimmering sequins featured on elegantly cut dresses, jumpsuits and separates in feminine styles. Each piece flattered the wearer just so with sheer chiffon and lace showing the right amount of skin and perfectly complemented by ostrich feathers for a dramatic effect. The colour palette was entirely monochromatic which suited the romantic floor-skimming gowns and skirts as well as the playful shorts paired with sheer tops. After such a gorgeous runway show we can't wait to see more of Kay Goss' garments and will be looking forward to the arrival of this alluring collection, which will be available online and from Kay Goss' Auckland workroom.
