Kate Sylvester recently opened a new store in Auckland’s popular CBD shopping destination Commercial Bay. The beloved womenswear brand first opened a store on High Street in the ’90s before relocating to Britomart nearly a decade ago, this new move to Commercial Bay is perfectly timed with the release of the brand’s beautiful Autumn/Winter 2022 collection called Portrait.
The designer created the refined collection as a contemporary tribute to ’90s silhouettes with pieces that offer sophistication and modernity for today’s confident and empowered women. Kate Sylvester sees the brand’s clothing as ‘a wardrobe for a lifetime, not a season’ which is reflected in the timelessness of the design and impeccable finish of each garment.
Kate Sylvester’s Commercial Bay store reflects the retail ethos of the brand, offering a welcoming space with warm and natural features for an effortless shopping environment. The fit-out of the store draws on aspects of previous Kate Sylvester stores – there’s currently five stores around the country and concessions in David Jones stores here and in Australia.
The new store incorporates recycled elements from some of the brand’s previous stores in the spirit of Kate Sylvester’s considered approach. It features intricate brogue-inspired metal filigree panels along one wall with organic shapes providing soft focal points for the layout. The spacious store includes polished brass fittings, raw natural timber and linen fitting room curtains that are complemented by the natural stone floor. It’s a gorgeous, inviting place to visit that feels of the moment and quintessentially Kate Sylvester.
