Kate Sylvester‘s beautiful new Spring/Summer 2019 collection called Kraftwork has started arriving in stores and online this week. The winsome new range evolved from a personal tapestry project of Kate’s as she has been exploring handicrafts in her personal time. Her discoveries and appreciation for traditional craft techniques was a perfect jumping off point for a contemporary collection that also utilises modern fabrications, geometric shapes and the pixilation of video games.

The designer has chosen a vibrant colour palette of raspberry, orange, yellow, emerald and gold complemented by classic black, white and tan. It makes for an energetic range full of dynamic pieces emphasised by strong silhouettes comprising of full skirts and tied waists with sculptured tucks making for interesting shapes. Sweet shirring and delicate cross stitch patterns reference the vintage craft inspiration while the pixellated digitally printed florals keep things modern and fresh.

Sylvester’s clever use of structured neoprene dresses and tops paired with cotton knit cardigans and jumpers is unexpected but appealing. Add mesh, shimmery lurex yarn and bright stripes and you have a collection that is effortlessly cool and perfect for wherever this season’s adventures take you. As with all Kate Sylvester ranges, each piece is designed to last and those sublime knits and beautiful dresses are definitely pieces you’ll want to hold on to for many seasons to come.
