Thursday evening saw Karen Walker's PlayPark store in Newmarket filled up with friends, media, and VIP customers as we waited to welcome her home from New York Fashion Week.
The store was beautifully decorated with bunches of baby blue and white balloons scattered around the sizeable venue. Surprise parties are always fun, and this was no exception -guests were entertained by DJs Maya and Vanya while sipping on champagne and various Stolen Rum cocktails, and nibbling on an array of culinary delights.
When Karen came into the store just before 7 O'clock, she was absolutely thrilled to see us -and definitely looked surprised!
I had a chance to look through the beautiful garments presented in-store, and was really inspired by her runway show at NYFW this September.
The FW runway saw the flaunt of the 70s and the structure of the 40s combined, featuring lots of mixed large prints, intricately tailored dresses, and bright colour pairings.
This year her outlandish florals were definitely the show-stealer, along with the head-wear and matching accessories.
Karen Walker stayed consistent with the head-to-toe print dressing that is currently all over runways for spring/summer 2012, and pulled it off extremely well.
All in all, it was a modern collection that re-imagined quirky American dressing, putting an eclectic spin on menswear tailoring and prints that are absolutely to-die-for.
