The whimsical follow up to Karen Walker‘s Forest jewellery collection is out today with Forest II continuing the adventure with KW fans. Last time the designer was foraging and roughcasting acorns and oak leaves, this time she’s scouring the forest floor armed with a Mason jar which means some curious insects and a few more acorns to play with.
“It was about fossicking for the unexpected beauty hidden beneath the leaf litter,” says Karen. “Taking out the looking glass and going exploring in the woods and uncovering what’s been overlooked.”
What did Karen find while scouring the forest floor? A grasshopper, a beetle and a dragonfly caught her eye, each has been rendered as delicate earrings and necklaces in gold, rose gold and silver. The creations are beautifully naturalistic and could easily be found in a Victorian entomoloygist’s book of drawings.
The Runaway Girl is also on this forest adventure, skipping through the woods with a tiger’s eye acorn as her bindle. For this range she features in limited edition necklace form and sleeper earrings. The acorn was the designer’s touchstone for Forest I and this time the designer has utilised semi-precious tiger’s eye stones that mimic the woody amber tones of the nut.
Karen Walker Jewellery Forest II is available now from Karen Walker stores, online and in select boutiques, department stores and jewellers.
