Karen Walker’s latest eyewear collection Euphoria is out this week and as we’ve come to expect from the brand it’s a quirky range of unique styles. Karen has always excelled at creating collections that have a fascinating duality – good vs. bad, refined and loud etc. but in a way that is modern and fashion forward all the same. Both hedonism and piety reverberate in the designer’s brain which makes for a lively place in which design ideas come to fruition and those clashes create delicious collections like Euphoria.
The new eyewear range features six new frames, as well as a classic-Karen Walker-shape revisited, that ’embrace both the apple-cheeked optimist and the snake-eyed ne’er do well alike’. “Our focus was that sweet epiphany moment,” says Karen. “It’s about that urge to play with colour and shape and view the world in a way that can be transformative.”
Among the new styles is the sporty yet sleek Hallelujah frames, which make the drama of transformation electric and have a futuristic feel. The smooth low brow line and angular, shaped-to-the-face proportions make for a dramatic yet covetable look in shiny black and smoke or Crazy Tort acetate teamed with violet. Next up is Paradise Lost which is a fashionable take on the wraparound shape that still has it’s street cred but steps up a level in ultra violet and electro pumpkin. Sharing a name with Karen’s latest clothing collection is Bad Apple, a pointed, wicked and Wiccan update on the cat-eye which perfectly complements her vintage inspired garments. Other playful new styles include Superhero and Blessed which is not to be missed in silver Galaxy Glitter acetate.
For those who love Karen Walker’s over-sized eyewear she offers up three new styles including Nirvana, a large-format lens in soft, neutral shades of tan or sage that features a negative-space metal frame in brown gold and bright gold. Next up is Eden which has a fun splayed Cubism shape in shiny black acetate with mustard tint lenses, blue mono teamed back against Crazy Tort or a gorgeous copper Supernova Glitter with a gradated lens in cool brown. Lastly is the aptly named Wisdom which is an expanding-edge quadrilateral, with sheer tint lenses and metal rims. It’s available in shiny brown gold on sage tint lenses, black shiny rims with dark smoke, and shiny bright gold worked back against violet tinted lenses.
The Karen Walker Euphoria collection is available at select boutiques, department stores, eyewear specialists, Karen Walker stores and online now.
