Karen Walker knows that the full design studio at her Auckland workroom is a rarity in the modern fashion world. She has a full team of sample machinists and cutters on hand to whip up samples from fresh ideas and craft the perfect garment. It’s something most fashion brands, especially young designers don’t have the luxury of today.
Karen was interviewed by Sonia Sly from Radio New Zealand’s My Heels Are Killing Me podcast live on stage at iD Dunedin Fashion Week. The duo discussed how much things have changed, why it’s important to Karen to be able to produce samples in house and how she nurtures new talent.
