Karen Walker welcomes Dr. Martens to her Playpark concept store in Newmarket this month with a curated capsule collection that includes brand new and iconic Dr. Martens shoes. The collection comprises of five styles, four of which are exclusive to Karen Walker in New Zealand. Each Doc Martens style has been carefully selected to work with Karen Walker’s own collections whilst offering wearers the opportunity to style them their own way.
Among the selected shoes in Karen Walker’s capsule collection are T-bar and tassel loafers styles as well as the Dr. Martens classic three eye shoe. A key style is the Willis Creeper in black leather which has a modern, pointed silhouette that is a nod to the quintessential goth shoe, but with a punk edge. While the Gracia is a contemporary twist on the classic T-bar shoe with an Adrian-style tassel and tons of Docs attitude, available in black and oxblood.
The original Adrian Tassel Loafer appeared in 1980 and the traditional slip-on loafer with a double tassel has been a firm favourite ever since. The version chosen by Karen Walker stays true to the classic silhouette but has been given an update with a plain welt, no knife fringe, contrast tassels and a soft, supple, waxy leather. The iconic 1461 Dr. Martens three eye shoe, finished with Doc’s trademark yellow stitch is the perfect way to round out the collection and like each style beautifully complements Karen Walker’s eclectic style.
The Dr. Martens capsule collection is available now at Playpark by Karen Walker (Newmarket) as well as Karen Walker stores in Britomart, Ponsonby, Takapuna and Wellington and online.
