Substantial sunglasses are back and Karen Walker Eyewear is going all out on the oversized aesthetic with the brand’s latest range aptly titled Massive. Designer Karen Walker has gleefully gone big with overt proportions and outlandish dimensions that are of the large and in charge variety.
It’s fair to see these sunglasses are hard to miss and that is after all the point, but with eyewear this impressive you can’t help but take notice. The latest chunky, bold geometric acetates are possibly more grandiose in scale than their predecessors but still have that Karen Walker sophistication. There’s also a softness in amongst the boldness with sweet hues of toffee, treacle and warm golden syrupy hues, not to mention beautiful Pre-Raphaelite shades of blush and marble contrasted with vibrant blue. The range also offers a revised take on Karen Walker’s signature arrow motif that is refined and subtle with the brand’s name also featuring underneath.
Punchy new style Vorticist is a clever nod to the adventurous graphics of early 1900s Vorticism design. It features an almost-inverted arm placement and ultra-bold browheavy bridge for a daring and confident look. That inspiration carries through to other new styles Wyndham and Ezra that are audacious and made to be noticed. Firm favourite Northern Lights from previous eyewear collections has been given a warm makeover in tonal hues of blush/marble and tan/crazy tort that are uplifting and oh so charming. With eyewear this fantastic you’ll want all eyes on you too.
