Karen Walker‘s successful partnership with Dove Hospice continues during April as Karen Walker stores will be acting as clothing collection points for Dove Hospice Shops. From today until April 30th Karen Walker is encouraging her customers and the public to bring any unwanted clothing to Karen Walker’s Newmarket, Britomart or Ponsonby stores. All clothing donations will be given to Dove Hospice to re-sell in their six charity shops or their Trade Me store.
“Clothing should never be trash” says Karen. “With our own designs our aim is to produce beautifully crafted items that will be well-worn and enjoyed for decades, special pieces that are circulated for as long as possible before they’re repurposed for another use. My team and I, and many of our customers, are also big vintage lovers, there’s nothing quite like finding unique pre-loved gems to give a new lease of life to.”
Dove Hospice supports and empowers people in the community to navigate holistically through the process of living with, and dying from life threatening illness and its consequences.
“This free-of-charge service receives no direct government funding, and is only possible because of the goodwill of our compassionate community,” says Julie Sexton, the Executive Director of Dove Hospice. “We are constantly amazed by the incredible donations we receive. When people give us their once-loved items, they can be safe in the knowledge that the money raised from our six Dove Hospice Shops and Trade Me store allows the Clinical Team at Dove House to deliver the exceptional service to patients with life-threatening illness, their families, carers and the bereaved.”
Playpark by Karen Walker hosted a Dove Hospice pop-up last winter featuring a great range of knits and winter garments that was very popular with Karen Walker customers and the community. The pop-up will be returning in June with Karen and Dove Hospice again looking for hand knit donations for adults or children. All the money raised from sales will go to Dove Hospice which is a wonderful cause to get involved with.
