Karen Walker Eyewear’s new Metals collection.
Karen Walker Eyewear released their latest collection “Metals” worldwide today and it’s a striking range that plays with ideas of negative space and construction. “We altered our focus this season with new styles that expose their intrinsic architecture and create a sense of illusion, almost as if the frames float on the face,” says Karen Walker.
The new pieces take their cue from popular KW Eyewear shapes but almost deconstructs them and pares them back to their framing with a stunning effect. The range has a suitably lustrous colour palette of metallic blue, gold and silver with tortoiseshell featuring on the ends of the arms. A new aviator shape called ‘Jacques’ features in this range and has a clever teardrop shaped lens, while ‘Simone,’ ‘Marguerite’ and ‘Emmanuel’ are the re-worked styles from previous collections. The lens options include a heavy metal mirror in silver or blue alongside the classic G15 green lens for this range. As always the collection focuses on high quality materials with Zeiss lenses, Monel metal finish and air-cushioned nose pads used in all the frames.
The brilliant campaign was shot by London-based director/photographer Barnaby Roper, who also worked with Karen Walker and choreographer/dancer Parris Goebel on the recent Superstars collaboration. The idea being that the images are “a modern exploration of Man Ray’s solarisation methods” and feature gorgeous UK model Hazel Townsend.
