Jimmy D at NZFW 2010 – Review

The applause was thunderous and I heard words of admiration vocalized from every direction. Expectations, of course, had been exceeded and Jimmy D became a favourite for the day.

The show had a 90’s, goth feel, and models marched the runway with red eyes and hair slicked completely back.

The collection was layered, featuring floor sweeping chiffon trains belted over slashed tights, hooded capes, and his always popular translucent, silk, over sized tees. Black upon black with high waist under wear and triangle bras peeking through chiffon dresses, or mesh inserts.

Heavily printed grungy tees, sometimes tied around the waist were reminiscent of high school, heavy metal days. And chains draped the body for a look that was totally rebellious.

Favourite piece? After the drapey silk tees it would have to the hooded heavy grey waistcoat. Very transferable to everyday wear.

It's good to have you back James.
