Jasmin Sparrow‘s beautiful new LA MER collection recently opened for pre-orders online with the new range dropping in stores from 24th November. The range sees designer Jasmin Scott continuing to investigate a fascination with natural elements and their dynamisms, turning hardened creatures of the sea into delicate wearable forms.
For LA MER, Jasmin Sparrow has explored the idea of coiling as a chamber for inward retreat or an armour against the rhythmical muscle of the tide. The collection features gorgeous baroque pearls, conical limpet charms, recycled metals and gold that intersect each other, the concept is to mimick both aquatic symbiosis and classical artifacts. That translates to ‘sizable wave-like earrings that absorb the ear lobe in a lick of shell whorl, with irregular sea pearls that are scattered amongst weighted chain links and a tender string of pearls wrap the ankle bone like a cold wet tendril’.
The designer has looked to water as a metaphor for change, evolution and regeneration, but also a place for reflection — a medium that both separates and unites us. LA MER is created to be a lament between the soft and the hard, the protected and the exposed. But ultimately, Jasmin Sparrow sees this collection as a celebration of nature and how we respond to its offerings.
These winsome new pieces work beautifully with previous Jasmin Sparrow collections with the brand seeing past and present ranges as intrinsically intertwined. Each piece is crafted to be mixed and matched with those that have come before — never forgotten as season’s change. Keeping best sellers available permanently is an ongoing testament to creative director Jasmin Scott’s brand philosophy of pieces that stand the test of time.
