Themes on display included power shoulders, monochrome palettes, capes, leather, wet look, sports luxe, extreme layering (almost origami like) and juxtaposed patterns.
Judge Katie Newton: “There were some simply outstanding entries that provided the whole package. They were conceptual, intelligent, technically savvy and aware of the fashion market today. It was clear that they love fashion, and were so accomplished that they offer a promising future for New Zealand fashion.”
Judge Francis Hooper: “I was honoured to see what will be the next generation of designers. It was incredible, I was blown away at such young people starting their careers with such sharp and polished ideas. The judges must apologise that we could only choose a few winners.”
