Here Comes the…Bridal Fashion Week!

The event, from 1st through 5th April will no doubt be the wedding of the year, and will feature some of New Zealand’s most prestigious and awarded bridal fashion designers, alongside two of the world’s most acclaimed and iconic couture bridal designers, CYMBELINE of Paris and RUBEN PERLOTTI of Barcelona.

And the venue is certainly fit for an event of such scale – BFW will be held at the stunning upper deck venue, The Dome, of the Auckland Museum at the Domain. “Nothing like this has been done before in New Zealand,” says Gloria Vincent, industry stalwart and director of BFW. “We want to create something magical and incredible to show off the amazingly talented bridal designers that we have in New Zealand. It’s about time we showed the rest of the world what we’re made of.” She continued.

2011 is already becoming the ‘year of the wedding’, with local celebrity couples tying the knot – Dan Carter with Honor Dillon and Kate Hawkesby with Mike Hosking. The wedding of the new millennium, that of Prince William and Kate Middleton is set to take place end of April immediately after the NZ Bridal Fashion Week. April is also the month of the diamond.

Open to the public, Bridal Fashion Week Auckland will host an array of leading New Zealand and international designers, showcasing their latest bridal season collections in a variety of fashion runway shows over five days. Beginning with a gala evening of glamour and entertainment including New Zealand Bridal Haute Couture, Designer Catwalk, Young Designer, Pacifika Bridal Designs, Bridal Wearable Art, Bridal Body Painting and a finale with New Zealand’s Bride of the Year judged by BFW’s top tier designers and sponsors. The week will end with a Best of the Best party with local celebrities modelling the designers’ most inspired gowns.

Key features of this event will be never seen before choreographed and themed designer catwalk shows. The focus will be on the exclusive new collections by Couture Bridal Designers for Brides, Grooms, the wedding party, Mother of the Bride & Groom, lingerie and jewellery. Amanda Bransgrove, Director of Monarch Models and Catwalk Studios, synonymous with high fashion and prestige fashion events will be choreographing all the catwalk shows. A former top model with NYC Ford Model agency, her career spans 24 years.

Two of Europe’s most celebrated wedding Couturiers – Cymbeline from Paris and Ruben Perlotti, Barcelona will be attending and showcasing their latest bridal collection. The Cymbeline brand was founded 30 years ago by three sisters and has now gone global with boutiques throughout Europe, North and South America and Asia Pacific. Perlotti is a Spanish designer with a long tradition of creating masterpieces from ready-to-wear to haute couture and in 2003 he presented his first bridal collection at the Noviaespana tradeshow in Barcelona and a year later started to present his designs at the Gaudi Bridalwear catwalk. Since then, the company has regularly taken part in both events.

“The Bridal Fashion Week is going to be an extravaganza of New Zealand’s elite wedding designers. Along with two of the most incredible international couturiers, we want New Zealanders to be inspired, excited and invigorated,” says Gloria. This event is to be an experience for New Zealanders that they will never forget and to celebrate the real talent that we have in New Zealand,” she continued.

NZ designer lineup announcement and ticket availability will be announced in the New Year. For would-be brides, this is an event not to be missed.
