Hera Couture recently showcased the bridal brand’s stunning new Avant Garde collection at New York Bridal Show Melange de Blanc. The beautiful New Zealand bridal label founded and designed by Katie Yeung was the only Kiwi label to present a collection at Melange De Blanc which is described as ‘a bridal market reimagined’.
The pop-up bridal market was held over three days in New York earlier this month with 43 designers showcasing their winsome new collections. The ultimate goal with the pop-up bridal market series is to simplify the buying experience so that bridal wear buyers can focus on each brand. Designer categories for the event include international, new, trend and couture as well as luxury brands showcasing their ranges. It has been described by Forbes magazine as changing the way consumers shop for bridal fashion while offering something unique to the industry.
“We are excited to be launching our Avant Garde collection at the Melange De Blanc show in New York. Lockdown has delayed many aspects of our business activity in New Zealand but despite this we are able to launch our new collection in other global markets including Australia, USA, UK, Spain and Germany,” says Katie Yeung.
Melange De Blanc co-founder Christine Wettstein says, “We are so thrilled to welcome New Zealand based designer Hera Couture to our line-up of designers showcasing at our New York October event”.
Hera Couture’s incredible new Avant Garde collection is a reflection of how expressions of individuality and personal style through bridal fashion will be even stronger and bolder for 2022 and beyond. Katie Yeung thinks that bridal trends are focusing on more choice to give women back a sense of control in an environment which otherwise feels unpredictable.
Brides are looking for individualised options which they can have design input on to create a wedding wardrobe that can take them from welcome dinners to the ceremony, from the reception to the after party. That means brides are also looking for additions like pants, overskirts, crop tops, sleeves, capes and jackets that allow brides to change up their look on the day and can be reused for other events or celebrations in future.
For Hera Couture, Katie has adopted these ideas into Avant Garde which makes for a fantastic range of gowns and pieces that offer modern solutions for brides. While there’s plenty of classical bridal styles on offer with a Hera Couture twist there’s also frothy layered pastel tulle confections and gorgeous floral prints with dramatic silhouettes amping up the glamour.
“The Hera Couture ‘Avant Garde’ Collection, is the manifestation of my artistic heritage through design, fabric and construction. I have created this range to combine concepts of tradition and freedom by acknowledging what has come before, while celebrating individual expression” adds Katie Yeung.
Hera Couture’s Avant Garde range is now available in New Zealand and globally from Hera Couture stockists and online.
