The latest collection from Harman Grubiša has just arrived in stores and online with the new Spring/Summer 2019 collection called Paradise. Designers Madeleine Harman and Jessica Grubiša wanted to create a sublimely relaxed range that is ‘anchored in the idyllic state of all things summer’. That means elegant daywear looks that are inspired by luxurious sleepwear with silk spots and pure cotton stripes featuring on breezy shirting, wide-legged trousers and flowing tiered dresses.
Harman Grubiša consistently nail contemporary suiting and this season it’s rosé-toned in an array of gorgeous Italian fabrics. The collection also features fine pinstripes that are woven with delicate metallic accents, for a subtle shimmer that is meant to offer ‘glints of sunshine off shell-laden coastlines’. As with all HG collections, these pieces are effortlessly chic and offer confident summer options in easy to wear silhouettes. Among Jessica Grubiša’s favourite pieces are the Lenox short pj top which is a key item for summer and the beautiful Kay dress that arrives in store in January.
A lot of brands have long since dropped their Summer collections by this point in the year but Madeleine and Jessica wanted to change the cycle and do what they wanted and what best suits their customers. The designers have found that their clients shop differently, not just for the summer and winter seasons. They find clients also looking for resort and skiing holiday wear which has led to the brand creating what they want when they want it.
So who is the Harman Grubiša woman? According to Jessica Grubiša that’s a hard thing to pin down as the brand currently has customers aged from 19 up to 81 years old. Essentially the HG woman knows who she is, what she wants and where she is going. She cares about buying from an ethical business that makes garments of high quality and are made to last. As the brand dresses a lot of women who travel regularly, the designers seek out crease-proof fabrics to make sure their customers are always looking their best.
This past year has seen another big boost in Harman Grubiša’s profile with prime minister Jacinda Ardern wearing the brand on numerous significant occasions including at the UN General Assembly, for her US Vogue shoot and on her European tour to meet heads to state in Germany, France and the UK. Jacinda has long been a fan of the brand and was wearing it prior to becoming prime minister with the designer’s big fans of NZ’s leading lady. “It’s such an honour to have her wearing HG, we love Jacinda,” adds Jessica. Something tells us 2019 will be another stellar year for Harman Grubiša.
