Gorman Opens First Store In New Zealand

One Of Australia’s Hottest Designers Sets Sights On New Kiwi Market.

Australian women’s fashion label GORMAN will open the doors to their first New Zealand store this Saturday March 24th in Auckland.

The store will occupy a grand space in Newmarket’s Nuffield Street.

GORMAN founder and designer Lisa Gorman launched the label in 1999 at the Fat52 Boutique in Melbourne, and since then it has become an iconic part of the Australian Fashion industry.

There are 16 GORMAN stores across Australia, making it one of the most prolific boutique clothing brands in the country.

Showing at numerous Melbourne Fashion Festivals and Australian Fashion Weeks, GORMAN has been a staple of the Australian fashion landscape but until now has only had a delicate foothold in the New Zealand market, wholesaling to a small number of boutiques across the country.

The Newmarket GORMAN store will open with the autumn/winter 2012 collection, inspired by adventurers and dreamers.

The colours this season are earthy henna, forest green, brilliant sky blue and hearty merlot red.  Jungle inspired prints, geometric triangular landscapes and cosy knitwear are a focus, with attention to hand embroidery and ethnic folk detailing.

The GORMAN label has become synonymous with chic female style, even branching out to design custom bicycles as well as a cute neon accessories and clothing line with Australian artist Rachel Castle.
