For the conscious beauty consumer, finding a good skincare product usually entails three main factors – a product that is natural, effective and affordable, and for a long time you were hard pressed to find a good skincare brand that gave you a genuinely good, natural skincare product, without having to compromise on the high price tag.
Homegrown beauty brand, Glow Lab saw a gap in the market for everyday Kiwis to be able to enjoy effective and natural skincare products that were also financially accessible. Glow Lab’s core ethos is to empower women to have the confidence to glow naturally from both the inside and out by providing natural skincare products that are backed by science, actually work, and are accessible to all.
Not only are Glow Labs products affordable and stocked on supermarket shelves, making them accessible to all, but they are free from parabens, sulphates, silicones, SLSs, they contain no mineral oils, they are animal cruelty free and they are pH balanced, which makes them perfect for all skin types – even the most sensitive of skin. Glow Labs products are dermatologically tested and created right here in New Zealand – a true Kiwi brand.
Glow Lab has always had their customers at the heart of everything they do and have a loyal following of “Glow Getters”. Glow Lab has worked closely with their Glow Getters (fans) from the outset, carrying out focus groups to ensure that every Kiwi will benefit from their products. Their latest Glow Getter Programme allows their fans to be treated like celebrities, with their fans being the face of their brand, Glow Lab wanted to give them the true influencer treatment. Fans who sign up to the Glow Getter Programme could be selected at random to receive ‘influencer kits’. These kits will include Glow Labs newest products, branded gifts and even the opportunity to trial products before they launch.
Glow Lab’s new Glow Getters Programme enables fans to enjoy influencer packs.
Here at FashioNZ we are big on natural beauty, natural skincare and homegrown beauty brands and Glow Lab ticks all of these boxes. We wanted to dig a little deeper and find out what makes this brand tick, and hear more about their Glow Getter Programme and how our readers might be able to get involved. So, we had a chat with Glow Lab Brand Manager, Fenella Brown to find out more about the Glow Lab brand.
What is the backstory behind Glow Lab?
Everyday Kiwis have always been at the heart of our brand. Born out of consumer focus groups with local women in 2017, Glow Lab set out to understand what they wanted from a natural personal care brand. The result? A solution that was natural, affordable, and most importantly effective, to give them the confidence to glow in their own skin. Our purpose was to be more than just a natural brand. We created a range that was boosted with scientifically proven active ingredients to deliver the results customers were looking for in their personal care products.
Where did the name, Glow Lab come from?
Glow Lab represents the nature-meets-science brand offer. Glow is about finding your glow not just on the outside but on the inside too. Feeling confident in your own skin. And ‘Lab’ references our commitment to going above just another natural skincare range. We invest in naturally derived, active ingredients in our formulations that have been clinically proven in the lab to deliver results.
What sets Glow Lab aside from other natural skincare brands?
Glow Lab goes above being just another natural skincare brand, from the products themselves all the way through to our values and the way we do business.
Our products don’t just look pretty, they do the job. We boost our natural formulations with clinically proven active ingredients that deliver results. We believe you can have a skincare range that’s kind on your skin, the environment, affordable and delivers results. And we are making that reality.
You also won’t see any extortionately paid celebrities or model endorsements from Glow Lab. Our customers have and always will be the foundation of Glow Lab as a brand. A co-creation of natural skincare products that have been made for them by them. So, who better to be the face of Glow Lab than the people who use and love our products the most?
Priding ourselves on creating a nature + science offer that is grounded on delivering results, we want to showcase just that, real results from real consumers. Bringing real Kiwi consumers forward as the face of our brand.
We’ve always done things differently and the way we advertise is no exception. Going against the ingrained beauty norms we use real, local, Kiwis who genuinely use and love Glow Lab in all our advertising and photography. We want to lead the way in creating a new norm for beauty where real people like you and I is the beauty standard.
Glow Lab’s products are free from parabens, sulphates, silicones, SLSs and they contain no mineral oils.
What does beauty mean to you?
Beauty is you. You are beautiful no matter who you are. This is what we want to portray with Glow Lab. It’s about finding products that help you feel confident in your skin. Whatever your personal skin struggles are, and they are all different, we want to provide products that deliver results so you can glow on. We have enough to worry about in life without our skin needing to be one of those.
Can you please tell us a bit about the new Glow Getter Programme?
We want to reward our fans for their loyalty, they are our brand, and just as we have brought them to the face of our advertising, it made sense to be including them in our PR activity too. Our Glow Getter Programme allows any fan of Glow Lab to submit their interest in receiving the highly coveted ‘influencer kit’. With 50 up for grabs this September, these kits have been designed to highlight the Glow Lab range, from recent award-winning products to the latest releases.
To become a Glow Getter all you need to do is head to www.glowlab.co.nz/glow-getters and fill out your information and you’re on the list! Plus, if you don’t receive a kit this time around, this list stays live, so you could be picked in the next round.
