The handbag and accessories brand is the creation of Vashti Uys who initially made a single carry-all tote which was so popular with her friends and family that her hobby organically developed into a business and MOOI was born in 2012.
The brand now offers a full collection of unique bags that are handcrafted and are inspired by Vashti's love of travel and beautiful leathers. The designer's easy-going personal style is reflected in her design ethos for MOOI which features practical pieces that are stylish and fuss-free. Vashti's aim is to create elegant, luxurious pieces that are great for everyday use and made to last.
MOOI means beautiful in Afrikaans and the brand is designed by Vashti and handcrafted ethically in Africa. The materials used in the manufacturing of each piece are by-products of the economic food industry and in keeping with the brand's philosophy that "marries the creation of beautiful products whilst ensuring the sustainability of its resources."
The current range includes a mix of shoulder bags, handbags, totes, clutches and wallets with popular pieces including metallic splattered finishes alongside natural hides finished with tassel details. MOOI have also just released new clutches for summer with luxe ostrich feather detailing which will no doubt be just as popular as the rest of their covetable bags.
