You would be hard pressed to miss the attention on Gemma Flynn and Richie McCaw’s wedding this past weekend. The two sporting stars tied the knot in a lovely ceremony in Wanaka in what was one of the most highly anticipated Kiwi weddings of 2017. For designer and creative director Kellie Taylor and her team at moochi it was exciting to finally be able to share that they had collaborated with Gemma on her beautiful custom-made bridesmaid dresses.
“With a modern classic sense of style that felt like a very natural fit for the moochi look, Gemma came to us with a clear vision for her bridesmaid style and we were there to guide this, offer up creative suggestions and help make what can be very stressful, a super easy relaxed journey,” says Kellie Taylor. Gemma’s bespoke dress design was created with a timeless look in mind and the feminine, full-length, camisole style dresses in a blush pink silk crepe-de-chine were made locally in Auckland. They perfectly complemented Gemma’s gorgeous custom-made Anna Schimmel gown that was delicately beaded and had a deep v at the back.
“After listening to Gemma’s ideas for the silhouette, colour and fabrication of her design, we were able to help add all the unique details of the dresses,” says Taylor. “At first glance they appear to be pared-back camisole dresses, but look further and you will see all the beautiful details, from the draped skirt that ties into the waist sash at the front and the subtle thigh-high split, to the back neckline that falls beautifully low with crossover strapping to masterfully conceal undergarments,” she adds.
Moochi’s bridesmaid service has become increasingly popular over the past few years with brides able to choose from the brand’s made-to-order selection of styles in a range of colours and fabrications. While Gemma’s bridesmaid dresses were completely custom-made there are lots of winsome styles available for brides-to-be to choose from.
