Vibrant eco surf label Gemma Lee has launched a colourful new collection called Sandy Cheeks which is now available online. Wellington based founder Gemma Cornish is known for her playful style and her eponymous label offers environmentally conscious pieces to please ocean-lovers and fashion fans alike.
“With fresh colours of citrus lime to corals from our blooming underwater garden, this collection is sure to add a punch to your ocean adventures,” says Gemma Cornish. “The Sandy Cheeks collection is the complete package and a water baby’s dream, with matching swimsuits and wetsuits that take you from sipping on sunshine beachside to dancing on the waves. This collection is sure to be the surf kit that everyone will be obsessing over!”
Each piece of swimwear is ethically made from 100% recycled materials such as abandoned fishing nets and other post-consumer products that are repurposed as ECONYL Nylon Lycra. Thousands of fishing nets are discarded in the ocean every year, which is deadly for our marine life. Using a material that regenerates nets into premium Nylon is a good way to help reduce waste in the world, and give these discarded nets a new life. The wetsuits are made from premium limestone-based neoprene which is one of the best best eco-friendly neoprene options available. It is 94% water impermeable and the distinctive cell structure of a limestone suit makes them warmer and lighter while absorbing little water.
Gemma Lee’s last collection sold out within a week so if you’re after one of these new full wetsuits, springsuits, wetsuit leggings or swimwear, you will want to snap yours up quickly.
